The Food & Agriculture sector has been a key to Guelph's development since the early 1800's, involving livestock and crop production and processing and more recently in the emerging areas of nutraceuticals, functional foods and bioproducts. With contributions from the University of Guelph, the businesses in the Research Park, and other businesses in Guelph and the surrounding area, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce has identified the need to connect businesses in this sector to share best practices, review provincial and national policies, and assist in commercializing research.
A GCC member that is approved and appointed by the Executive Committee, for a one-year term commencing July 1st, will chair the Food & Ag Committee. The Food & Ag Committee shall consist of 8 to 15 members, including a representative from the GCC Board of Directors. The term of the Food & Ag Committee members is two years.
