About the Chamber
Workplace Development Committee
Mandate:
The Guelph Chamber of Commerce has identified workforce development as one of our key strategic elements. Employment streams to be considered are:

people new to Canada
-
graduates from educational institutions
-
workplace advancements through job site training
-
retraining unemployed workers
-
accommodating people with disabilities to meet the needs of the coming workforce shortage
Aims and Objectives:
- To partner educational institutions with the business community to provide training programs within industry, or from within educational institutions
- To connect strudents with job placements
- To provide a forum for business to communicate workforce development needs
- To provide strategy for integrating new Canadians into Guelph businesses
- To address employment of people with disabilities
- To integrate people who are unemployed or laid off into second careers
- To develop programs and activities that help transition from shrinking labour needs to increasing labour needs
