Workplace Development Committee

Mandate:

The Guelph Chamber of Commerce has identified workforce development as one of our key strategic elements.  Employment streams to be considered are:
  • people new to Canada
  • graduates from educational institutions
  • workplace advancements through job site training
  • retraining unemployed workers
  • accommodating people with disabilities to meet the needs of the coming workforce shortage

Aims and Objectives:

  • To partner educational institutions with the business community to provide training programs within industry, or from within educational institutions
  • To connect strudents with job placements
  • To provide a forum for business to communicate workforce development needs
  • To provide strategy for integrating new Canadians into Guelph businesses
  • To address employment of people with disabilities
  • To integrate people who are unemployed or laid off into second careers
  • To develop programs and activities that help transition from shrinking labour needs to increasing labour needs
