The hunt is on for a temporary home for the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington's annual Adopt-a-Family program.
Every year, the Children's Foundation has been fortunate to have space donated by local businesses but it's never a guarantee and they are turning to the public for help in finding space this year.
Just like the Guelph Public Library's recent anxious search for a book sale space, the Adopt-a-Family program worries whether a Holiday Hero will step forward in time to save the day. "We've been following all possible leads, but so far we haven't had any success," said Glenna Banda, Exeuctive Director of the Children's Foundation. "It's always a bit nerve-wracking every year whether we can find the right space for our incredible volunteer team. Last year, we were able to help over 800 families during the holidars, and it's crucial that we find a space so we can continue to help families provide holiday memories for their children."
Space Requirements include:
"The challenge lies in owners wanting to sell or rent their space, and understandably they are reluctant to commit to donating the space for two months," says Banda. "Last year we made sure that close to 2,000 children had presents under the tree and we want to be there again for them this year. If ever there is a time to believe in Christmas miracles, this would be it!"
Anyone with ideas - or better yet, the space - can contact Glenna Banda at 519-826-9551 or firstname.lastname@example.org
