Workplace Development Committee

The Guelph Chamber of Commerce has identified workforce development as one of our key strategic elements. Employment streams to be considered are:

people new to Canada
graduates from educational institutions
workplace advancements through job site training
retraining unemployed workers
accommodating people with disabilities to meet the needs of the coming workforce shortage

To partner educational institutions with the business community to provide training programs within industry, or from within educational institutions
To connect students with job placements
To provide a forum for business to communicate workforce development needs
To provide strategy for integrating new Canadians into Guelph businesses
To address employment of people with disabilities
To integrate people who are unemployed or laid off into second careers
To develop programs and activities that help transition from shrinking labour needs to increasing labour needs
