Digital Marketing & Content Manager for Destination Marketing Guelph

Destination Marketing Guelph (DMG) is a non-profit entity (part of Guelph Tourism) under the management of The Guelph Chamber of Commerce and working in tandem with the City of Guelph’s Tourism Services team. DMG is responsible for promoting the city of Guelph as an attractive travel destination while enhancing its public image as a dynamic place to live, work and play.
Job Description:
The Digital Marketing and Content Manager is responsible for creating and publishing various types of digital content, including but not limited to social media posts, blog articles, videos, infographics, and newsletters. The Digital Marketing and Content Manager should have a strong understanding of digital marketing and SEO principles, as well as excellent writing and editing skills. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. The ideal candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, and have experience with content management systems, and social media platforms. A background in tourism marketing, journalism, or a related field is preferred.
In this position, you will be expected to take direction from DMG’s Executive Director and collaborate with the City of Guelph’s Tourism Services team to develop content that aligns with established goals. You will also be responsible for creating engaging and informative content, including blog posts, social media posts, and videos.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Execute the creation of digital ads sized out to ad specific ratios that excel in creating conversions (Google ads, Meta ads)
- Coordinate monthly Newsletter content utilizing MailChimp
- Execute frequent and effective organic social media marketing (Instagram, Facebook)
- Answer social media inquiries, direct messages
- Create high-quality promotional reels via the use of CapCut
- Organize collaboration on marketing efforts with operators, influencers, and tourism organizations
- Highlight and create blog content with strong search-engine optimization in a timely manner, complete with visuals on WordPress
- Source high-quality user-generated content from CrowdRiff, receiving usage rights, creating galleries, and re-posting material that aligns with Destination Marketing Guelph’s goals
- Attend various events to capture and post content in a timely manner and to boost brand visibility operating a booth and engaging/ interactive games
- Create monthly Digital Marketing Reports based on provided monthly data
- Compile and coordinate giveaways by amalgamating relevant prizes, creating visually appealing baskets, and utilizing SweepWidget as a hub for user activity, increasing web traffic, digital engagement, follower count, and newsletter subscription
- Ensure a complete visual assets archive of all assets involved in marketing to date
- Coordinate room blocks for special events and promotions
- Assist in content development and brainstorming
- Effectively operate camera equipment for content capture at events
- Attend conferences, summits, and forums on behalf of Destination Marketing Guelph and Guelph Tourism
- Write and circulate press releases when required
- Meet with the organization’s external agencies to coordinate the execution of marketing efforts
- Create monthly ad and organic marketing content calendars well in advance and formulate ideas on attractions to highlight
- Respond to email correspondences effectively and in a timely manner
- Assist in miscellaneous tasks when required
- Ensure content is aligned with brand standards
- Work with and maintain relationships with external vendors
- Ensure all content is optimized for SEO and meets accessibility standards
- On-site attendance of tourism-oriented events for live content development and implementation – weekends and evenings may be required
- Perform administrative tasks that support members and the organization
Requirements and qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Digital Marketing and Content Manager or similar role
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English
- Experience with content management systems (CMS)
- Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics
- Familiarity with social media platforms and audiences
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software
- Experience with video editing software (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for creating engaging and innovative digital content
Please note that eligible applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. This role requires 35 hours per week in a hybrid work environment. Schedule to be coordinated and approved by DMG’s Executive Director.
Timeline:

- Placement to commence September 22, 2025
Compensation: $60,000-$65,000 (based on experience)
