Guelph Chamber to host entrepreneur with major comeback story

(Guelph, November 12, 2021 ) - On December 7, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Presenting Sponsor Elinesky Schuett Private Wealth Management of RBC Dominion Securities, will kick off the Inspirational Women event series with special guest Emily O’Brien, founder of Comeback Snacks. Emily will be interviewed by Glenna Banda, Executive Director of United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin about her unique path to entrepreneurship, influence, and community building.

“The Inspirational Women event is a key part of the Guelph Chamber’s efforts to showcase and help build leadership among women throughout our community” says Shakiba Shayani, President & CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce. “It’s important to highlight the complex stories from women entrepreneurs and Emily’s story is a beautiful one of positive and ongoing change.”

After being sentenced to a four-year jail term stemming from her battle with addiction, Emily set out to transform herself and make her time in jail as meaningful as possible. She curated her very own specialty popcorn brand from prison and continues to run her business successfully today while challenging the status quo. Comeback Snacks not only offers tasty treats but aims to remove the stigma around people with prior convictions and criminal backgrounds by offering and advocating for reintegration through training, empowerment, and education.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Guelph Chamber of Commerce on this event” says Tom Schuett, Senior Portfolio Manager at Elinesky Schuett Private Wealth Management. “Hearing the unique stories of trailblazers like Emily has a positive impact on our community and helps to elevate the voices of women entrepreneurs.”

The Inspirational Women event will take place virtually on Tuesday December 7th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. To register, click here.
